ABOUT DEANSGATE

Deansgate Retirement Village is situated in Craighall Park in Johannesburg. It offers accommodation for the elderly regardless of race, religious affiliation or gender.

The Deans Shelter was established by the then Dean of Johannesburg to care for veterans of the second world war, who had serious difficulties in their efforts  to rehabilitate and adjust to civilian life. Having served its purpose as the Deans Shelter, Deansgate as it is known today became a home for the elderly.

The historical link with the Anglican Church is preserved in the form of a chapel in which the services, open to all, are conducted by priests from the Parish of St Martins-in-the-Veld as well as other Parishes in the area.

The home is situated in Craighall Park, close to the historical suburb of Parkhurst. It borders on the beautiful Delta Park and is close to the Braamfontein spruit.
